The main focus of this design project was to create a fully functional family home. The four-room apartment was generous in size, but the layout needed a ground-up rethinking – the kitchen wasn’t practical, and there was no second bathroom.
We developed a new distribution of the spaces, in order to have a modern, functional kitchen with a cozy dining area by the window, a master bedroom that fits a queen-sized bed, a walk-in closet, and a larger master bathroom with a laundry section. Also, the small toilet that was blocking the access to the kitchen became a much-needed dresser.
We preserved the style of the building with communicating rooms, while also creating a feeling of privacy. Thus, the master bedroom and kid’s room have separate entrances from the hallway, keeping only the living room and office connected.
The long hallway needed to be welcoming, so we opted for neutral tones, enhanced by the natural light. Throughout the space, pops of bold colors bring vitality and joyfulness.
